Ruins, Remnants, and Rust: Rhythm, Color, Texture, and Ancient Symbols
New Works by Mary Lou Alberetti
May 20 – June 14, 2025
Conversation with
the artist
Mary Lou Alberetti's new works combine ceramic, paper, mixed media, and metal, emphasizing texture and physicality. The tactile richness of clay and rusted metal, with their contrasting surfaces, adds depth and invites viewers to engage both visually and physically. Alberetti’s earthy color palette—burnt sienna, rust, ochre, terracotta, and deep browns and reds—imbues her sculptures with warmth and timelessness. Accents of black, white, gold, and subtle blues/greens add modern contrasts, enhancing her interpretation of ancient aesthetics.
